What is Lent?

Lent is the 40-day period (not including Sundays) between Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent) and the Saturday before Easter. Lent is a season in the life of the church where we are invited to turn our hearts toward Christ in repentance and in preparation for Holy Week.

The great tradition of Lent dates as far back as the 4th century AD and was established to help the early converts prepare themselves spiritually for Easter. The 40 days represents the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring the temptation of Satan, and preparing to begin his ministry.

During Lent, we are given an opportunity to go deeper with God. We do this by resetting the rhythm of our lives through intentional prayer, fasting, Bible reading, reflection, and being in community with other believers. We invite you to join us in this sacred tradition, and we pray that you would experience God in new and powerful ways during this time.

Lent Small Groups

You are invited to participate in a 6-week small group experience leading up to Easter Sunday. These short-term small groups offer an excellent opportunity to deepen your faith and build connections with others here at Foundry. Groups will gather once a week to discuss the Lent sermon series. We will learn and grow together as we devote ourselves to hearing from God.
