Goodbye and Good Luck Cesar!

March 9, 2017

As members of Foundry who responded to God’s call to vocational ministry, Cesar Martinez and his wife Karina have been a blessing to our church family.  Five years ago Cesar rose from our membership ranks to answer the call to ministry. For five years he has been serving primarily as pastor to our Spanish speaking congregation at Jones Road and more recently has been laying the groundwork to extend this ministry to the Fry Road campus.  In keeping with the United Methodist process of discernment, Cesar will be following God’s calling in a new chapter in his life and ministry.  In his own words…

“I would like to share with the Foundry family that I have received and accepted a new appointment to serve as the Senior Pastor of Crossroads UMC starting June 1st. This is a result of much prayer and confirmation from the Spirit that we are following God’s will. My family and I are excited for this opportunity, but at the same time will miss you all dearly. Foundry is where we attended as members and started our ministry.  It is a church filled with people we love and will always be our home church. As much as we believe this is God’s will for us, it is very difficult for us to leave all of you.  My wife and I would like to thank all of  you for your prayers and support throughout these last five years. It has been a great honor for me to serve you and thanks to you, I have grown and learned so much in my ministry. We love you and cherish you as our family in Christ.”

Cesar has done a fantastic job of building a leadership team and we wish him all the best on his new journey starting in June.  Thankfully, God prepared us for this day by bringing pastor Gustavo Echemendia to serve as an intern during the last 12 months, and he is uniquely positioned to continue our Spanish speaking ministry. We are proud to call Cesar and Karina our own and look forward to seeing what God does in this next chapter of their lives and ministry.
