In Acts 4, Peter and John stood before the Sanhedrin and boldly gave witness to what they had witnessed. They proclaimed, “Jesus is the stone you builders rejected which has become the cornerstone. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name given under heaven by which we must be saved.”
Everyone was astonished. They witnessed the courage of Peter and John. They witnessed a lame man standing before them. Then Luke writes this powerful line:
“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13 (NIV)
Amazing things can happen when ordinary men and women have a close encounter with Jesus. When we encounter Jesus, we can’t help but witness to His goodness and grace.
Our 2023 Annual Report gives witness to the many ways God is at work. As we move into 2024 I am excited about the future! I believe the fire of God is bringing forth an even greater witness of God’s work in and through everyday people who are hungry to encounter God and share the Good News with others.
Thank you for partnering to make a difference in the lives of people here at Foundry, in the local community, and globally through our many missions. Your giving, service, and prayers are so important to this work. I am honored to serve as your pastor as we lead people to know, follow, and share Jesus, our cornerstone.
Lead Pastor,
Ray Hughes
2023 was a year of faithful prayer, change, and celebration! We experienced the faithfulness and provision of God as we navigated our first year as The Foundry Methodist Church. We joined the Foundry Network and experienced connectedness and community with like-minded Wesleyan churches across the country. We witnessed the fire of the Holy Spirit as people were healed, relationships were restored, challenges were redeemed and lives were changed.
No matter what changes may come, some things remain the same-- our God is the same God! Our mission is the same mission --to help people know, follow, and share Jesus. Our Methodist heritage and theological foundation are the same.
We sense the Holy Spirit moving in new ways and are excited about what God will do in 2024!

Discipleship
My family and I are so excited to be a part of the Foundry family, and I am honored to be serving this congregation as the new Director of Adult Discipleship. My prayer is that God will use me to help every person here at Foundry grow closer to Christ, and that he will send his Spirit to give me the wisdom to know how to serve you well. No matter where you are in your faith, I want to create spaces and places that encourage, empower, and equip you to go deeper with God and journey with him as he calls and leads. I am excited to see all the Lord has in store for this church and for our growth as disciples in the year to come.

Women's Ministry
Layne Clark, Cassie Landrum, and their team have done an amazing job leading our women’s ministry here at Foundry in 2023. Their passion and dedication shows in the number of women who consistently register for the events and Bible studies they put on.
"We have seen continued growth of the women in our groups, and give praise to God for all he is doing in the lives of the women who attend," they wrote.
Their Bible studies have made such an impact on the women who attend that word has spread and many from outside of Foundry have now been attending as well. What a joy and a blessings it is to have such Spirit-filled women leading and shepherding this ministry. May God continue to bless them in all that they do.

Men's Ministry
Men's ministry celebrates high connectivity, discipleship in smaller groups, events and mission. Both Jones and Fry Road campuses experienced deeper growth in short term Lent groups and Bible studies throughout the year.
Our first ever "Stros & Bros" night together at an Astros game was highlighted by Larry Dierker joining us and sharing some of his great experiences and stories from his legendary days with the Astros organization. We were able to gather for our annual Cornhole Tournament at Fry Road and had a tremendous turnout, once again. Also, we were able to gather for a night of fellowship and axe throwing in the Fall.
Lastly, we engaged in a Fourth of July brisket fundraiser that was able to raise over $1000 to support Kairos prison ministry.

Life Groups
Life Groups help a big church like Foundry feel small. Many of our Life Groups have been together for years--some decades--and have developed very strong community as a result. Life Groups not only support and care for one another, but they live life together, growing as disciples as they study God's word, pray, and serve. Thank you to all our Life Group leaders for helping to make this ministry so strong. To God be the glory!

Foundry Choral Leadership Program
Foundry Choral Leadership Program is about to start its 5th semester! It's a great partnership program that gives advanced level choral students in CFISD exposure to leadership in a traditional worship setting. We have had 16 students so far in our program, some that have come back during their summers and semesters off to sing and worship with us.

Focus for 2024
As we lean into where God is leading in the new year, we will focus on growing deeper in our faith through intentional discipleship, dynamic worship, and bearing witness to what God has done— and continues to do!
-
Foundry exists to help people KNOW, FOLLOW, and SHARE Jesus. This is a mission that necessitates strong disciples. If we define a disciple as someone who is “loving God more deeply, and loving others more selflessly,” then our discipleship must address growth.
In 2024, we will approach discipleship with a new intentionality.
-
We long for:
Worship that is full of the spirit.
Worshippers who are fully engaged.
Worship spaces that are full of people connecting with God.
-
We want to be a congregation on fire and filled with the spirit, witnessing to the world about all they have experienced.

Missions
Global Mission Highlight: House of Mercy
Casa de Misericordia (House of Mercy) orphanage in Piedras Negras, Mexico has been a ministry partner for more than two decades. The mission of House of Mercy is to provide a safe, nurturing, God-centered home for the abused, neglected and homeless children of Coahila, Mexico.
Foundry raised over $30,000 ($13,000 from kids at VBS) to provide much-needed repairs and remodeling at the orphanage. The money raised by kids was used to purchase and install a new playground! In addition, Foundry families provided two truckloads of Christmas gifts so each child could experience the love of Christ through the love shown by his church.
Local Mission Highlight: Judy Dierker Holiday Market
Market with a Mission
The Judy Dierker Holiday Market is Foundry’s annual fundraiser to help support our Mission Partners – both local and global. With your help, we raised over $40,000 for missions during the 2023 Judy Dierker Holiday Market. Thank you for being a part of a market with a mission!
A huge shoutout to all the amazing volunteers, vendors, and sponsors who made the market such a great success. Thank you for joining our effort to change the world around us!

If you have not had a chance to come by our kids ministry we would love to have you see what God is doing! Each week our incredible leaders are teaching God's word to kids of all ages! We are learning to discern God's voice and praise Him through the hard times! At Foundry we believe that kids are a vital part of the church and we are excited to partner with families! This past year we hosted our first ever Parent University where we came alongside of parents to help them navigate some of life's hardest parenting topics. We are excited to offer another Parent University this coming April! We saw our kids raise over $13,000 for missions and were able to purchase a playground for House of Mercy in Mexico! Please be in prayer for our parents as they are raising their kids to KNOW/FOLLOW/SHARE Jesus!

“Foundry Kids has consistently poured fun & excitement for Jesus into our kids. We have watched them grow in their faith, make lasting friendships, and feel supported by a loving community. It’s evident that kids are a priority to Foundry and their efforts shine brightly in our kids’ enthusiasm of walking in the door!”

“I specifically like that the children’s bible we use is simple to understand and remember. In addition, the lesson plan we use on Sunday is prepared and is filled with activities that are engaging and focused helping the kids to develop their faith and deepen their relationship with God. Walking this journey alongside we see first hand how our little man learns about compassion, love, and kindness. ”

FOUNDRY STUDENT MINISTRY
FOUNDRY STUDENT MINISTRY
“This year has been one of incredible growth for our students at Foundry. We’ve focused our time, our energy, and our resources on helping students grow in their relationship with God and grow in relationships with each other. It’s been amazing to see our students desire to dive in deeper to their faith, embracing this as a time to approach and understand God with curiosity & wonder. As we look ahead, the entire FSM Team, both staff and volunteer leaders, are eager to see how God will continue to grow our students closer together and expand the reach and impact FSM has in the lives of students throughout our community.”
Students on Mission
Our high schoolers had the opportunity to travel to Fort Myers, FL to be a part of the ongoing hurricane relief efforts in the community.
Our middle schoolers had the amazing opportunity to serve the city of Austin through relational ministry in senior homes, beautification projects and in community!
“FSM has been a huge part of growing my faith in 2023. It’s a space where I can learn more about God and share it with a community of people my age. Wednesday nights have always been my favorite part of FSM because lessons are more in-depth and create new meanings and interpretations of scripture. I am very fortunate to have a place where I can learn more about the meaning of being a Christian so that I can share God’s word with my friends and community.”

FSM has helped me grow my faith through a community that has a burning desire for God. Through struggles and trials, FSM has been there through the hardest times and always made me feel strong in my Faith in God. God is soooo good and the FSM community continues to give me the joy and strength I need to stay on my path with God this year and forever.

2023 Summer Interns
What an incredible summer! Six young college students brought their love of God and passion for ministry to Foundry! Their enthusiasm was contagious as they led Bible studies, worship, small groups, and more. As we watch young adults grow into the leaders that God has called them to be, we are blessed to be a part of their discipleship and faith family.
Foundry en Español
It is at the heart of our Spanish Service to serve God everywhere we can, not only in church but also in our community. We are always ready to welcome the lost that comes to the feet of Jesus with open hearts. We desire to always be the hands and feet of Christ and last year, we began implementing a leadership multiplication system and discipleship development, which has successfully multiplied our volunteer leaders. This year, one of our goals is to expand this initiative within the Hispanic community, achieving a multiplication of disciples in the process.
Our prayer is that God continues to add more workers to the harvest so we can continue doing more for his kingdom.
“At Foundry en Español we have a clear mission, to respond to the glory of God in Jesus Christ by affirming, strengthening, establishing, and perfecting disciples for the transformation of our community and the world.”

Care & Support
“It is our privilege to walk alongside one another in all facets of life with care and compassion. Galatians reminds us to “carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you fulfill the law of Christ” (6:2, NIV). From our prayer ministry to our GriefShare program, it is our deepest desire to seek God together in both the difficulties and celebrations of life. ”
Foundry has been providing recovery ministry to our community since 1998 when we began our first AA meeting. 25 years later that original AA group still calls Foundry home.

“Addiction is a disease and can tear a person’s life apart. Although, there are those who never overcome their affliction, the victories of those who do provides an unspeakable reward. There is a quote that is often heard in recovery,
“One time is too many and ten thousand is not enough.””
