Foundry Church Internship Programs
Raising up the next Generation of Church Leaders
2 Intership Programs
We offer two programs designed to give hands-on experience working with one of the staff teams of the church, personal mentoring and leadership training to equip emerging church leaders for a lifetime of ministry significance.
A 12-week Summer Internship Program
A 2-year Residency Program
Real Life Experience
Summer Interns and Residents gain experience by serving as part of a staff team in one of the ministry departments of the church. The department in which an intern or resident serves is chosen based on experience, team chemistry and desired ministry future. Below lists the departments at The Foundry in which an intern or resident might serve. As a multisite church, The Foundry offers several unique serving opportunities in each department.
Children’s Ministry
Worship Ministry
Youth/College Ministry

Caleb Fervida, Intern 2023
"Foundry's internship was so welcoming and geared to develop me as a follower of Christ and a leader to others. I felt free to explore different areas of ministry, and I was provided every opportunity to do just that."
Grant Kauffman, Intern 2023
"If you're interested to see ministry from the insider's perspective, this is the internship for you! You get an idea of the pace and everyday rhythms of ministry behind the scenes through serving in and learning about various roles at The Foundry."
THE SIX DEVELOPMENTAL COMPONENTS
-
Ministry Experience is what the program is all about. The purpose of an internship or residency is to ensure that the participants have the leadership capacity and know-how to effectively and competently lead as a pastor. In order to do this, interns and residents need significant and real-life ministry experience.
-
Ministry Coaching works in conjunction with Ministry Experience (Developmental Component #1). Ministry Coaching also overlaps with Personal Development (Developmental Component #3). The purpose of the Ministry Coaching Meeting is to ensure that the intern or resident is growing in ministry competence during the residency.
-
Personal Development is similar to Ministry Coaching but is also quite different. Personal Development is more about who you are than what you do. Regular meetings ensure that the intern or resident is growing as a person and Christian during the residency.
-
The Leadership Training Curriculum is unpacked during a weekly training meeting and gives valuable insight into different types of leadership. The Leadership Training Curriculum covers self-leadership, relational leadership and organizational leadership. The Leadership Training Curriculum also has an “elective” session where the resident can learn about Pastoral Ministry, Preaching Ministry or Worship Ministry.
-
Being part of a winning team is contagious. Interns and Residents benefit greatly from being invited into a staff and church culture that is thriving and healthy. Within this context they pick up nuances and attitudes that separate winning teams from other teams.
-
A formal evaluation process gives feedback to the intern or resident as well as to the coach about the residency/internship and the candidates readiness for pastoral ministry. While the evaluation process is an important tool in its own right, it also serves a “catch” for any development issues that have been inadvertently overlooked in the other components.
